Nature Spirit Films: Elemental Beings

“If there is anything that we wish to change in the child, we should first examine it and see whether it is not something that could better be changed in ourselves.”
C. Jung

Main Focus: To show viewers that an elemental world exists and has always existed. That perhaps most of us have strayed away from this realm that we knew very well as children. But even when this elemental universe is hidden to us it continues to exist and there are people that continue to be connected to it and if you choose there are ways for you too to remember how you are connected.

The story maybe told as a parable of five main people from Foxhollow Farm, Kentucky who have all been a part of a 28 stone instillation performed by the connecting force of Marko Pogacnik. In a way these people are sanctified through the processes that they learn from Marko, who is a teacher and guide to the world of Goemancy and the elemental kingdoms.

As we listen to personal accounts of each person and they discuss hardships, relationships, quests, and miracles in their own life. We will make a leap to try and identify those personal tales/accounts/anecdotes as to how they pertain to myths/fables/parables/ and other popular story paradigms that we have been privy to since childhood. As they tell the story set in their own actual life we will craft a visual language that is more lofty and mystical in a sense to tie the story to the myth/legend/parable/etc as well as the elemental world as presented by Marko Pogacnik and his students and colleagues.

Each person is also essentially a representation, an archetype and they too should be picked and used for effect. One person is more fire than the other elements and another is more wind/air, while a third is rooted in spirit. The five elements as they relate to each character/person from Kentucky will work as the spine of the overall film. After all no-one is entirely one thing, so naturly the story will flow and overlap from one person to the next.

Marko Pogacnik can even be regarded as a narrator, the voice of the spirit (an invisible element).

So if the film is grounded in the five elements as they pertain to archetypes what that means is, when a person who we feel is overwhelmingly possessed by or posses the element of fire we will represent him with imagery that is very fire related. Starting from the Sun, then moving down to the sun gods such as RA (Egyptian), to the elemental world where salamanders represent fire.

Marko’s story I feel should be last it is the story of his quest to unlock the sites of sacred geography with the use of sacred geometry. His voice is woven through the fabric of the film but is never fully present until the end where we realize the scope of what he is trying to undertake and the methods with which he is doing it, i.e teaching, community development, helping people to realize that we all share a common goal but have a different way of getting there.

The Body as Planet Earth and in turn Planet Earth as the Body.

In my minds eye the film may start something like this:
Universes, Solar Systems, Milky way, Our solar system orbiting the sun. The planet earth spiral cloud formations, a child’s hands playing with a nautilus shell. The terrain of the human ear, an acupuncture pin is placed by a hand into the ear, the full ear, several pins are resting in different parts of the ear, down the curve of the neck a tattoo of the nautilus shell, a pin is placed through it. It is the silhouette of a woman’s body just the outline of the curve with a few pins sticking out, a dessert dune, a hand with veins– a pin enters, a river emptying into the ocean from above. The toes– a pin enters, mountains, the navel, a whole in the ground a stone being hoisted and placed into the earth. It is Marko and his students performing an instillation at Foxhollow. A shot all the stones from above and from the ground. It looks like acupuncture on the earth.

Marko mentions how long and where he has been doing this but does not specify why.

(notes: event though there are five central characters with Marko being the voice, other people can help tell the story of the five central characters and they in turn can help tell the story of the others as well.)

Research:
What do we know as true, false, irrelevant, and yet to be proven about the elemental universe/geomancy/sacred geography/geometry?

We can use figures such as scientists to represent an archetype befitting a certain element. It would be important to inter-relate psychologists, philosophers, writers, poets, musicians, and scientists according to the story breakdown and the roles they play in each characters tale.

I am interested in Filmmaking to convey more than the culmination of an idea. This Part of the Page has to do with filmmakers who have a very specific agenda when it comes to using the language of film. We shall explore their lessons and works.
